Engineered for speed, not for community

When streets are engineered to allow speeds beyond what was permitted on highways for a decade and a half...., we end up with streets that few pedestrians are willing to walk along, streets that are unsafe for our children to cross.

When we engineer our streets like this, we cut our communities into pieces, we separate residents from each other and from public spaces, and we severely limit the independence of our children.
